Fall Activities for Your Little Pumpkin

It is almost time for brisk mornings, apple cider and pumpkin spice everything! Do you have your fall fun planned? Pumpkin patches, apple picking, and hay rides are all fun activities to plan away from the home that help your kids experience fun in their community, but Skidaddles is here to help you find some fun in your own home and backyard. Here are a 4 fun, fall activities perfect for your little pumpkin!

Craft: Marbled Art

Supplies:

Shaving cream

Straw or pencil

Cookie sheet or tray

Food coloring or paint

Heavy white paper cut in fall shapes (pumpkins, leaves, acorns)

Old gift card

Fill a tray with shaving cream and smooth out the top layer. Add drops of food coloring or paint and using a straw, swirl the paint on top of the shaving cream. Cut out fall shapes from heavy white paper. Lay the cut outs on top of the shaving cream and using your finger, lightly press down on the top so the paper makes full contact with the shaving cream. Pull the paper up and scrap the shaving cream off with an old gift card.

Sensory: Fall Sensory Bin

Supplies:

Large Tub

Measuring cups, funnels, spoons

Dry corn, beans, and/or rice

Outdoor items

Take a trip outdoors to find some fall items like pine cones, different colored leaves, acorns, nuts, etc. Fill a large tub with dry corn, rice and/or beans. Allow your children to dive in with measuring cups, funnels and spoons. Pro tip: Lay an old sheet under the bin to aid in easy clean up. Sensory activities are always a big hit for Mommy and me activities.

Science/STEM: Apple Stacking

Supplies:

Play-dough (homemade or store bought)

Apples

Using play-dough and apples, have your children stack a tower as tall as they can! Use the play-dough as a base between the table and each of the apples and see how strong their tower can be! You can use our homemade play-dough recipe and adjust it for fall by adding fall scents like pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon. Watch your little pumpkin work on those STEM skills.

Hope your little pumpkin enjoys these 4 fun fall activities!
